Amazingly, this time, we asked for breakfast, and there it was, served, as we sat. We ate, said goodbye to all the others and set off. Up we went, over frozen creeks and along the snowy path. It was getting tough. The higher we went, the less air there was. Basically, we were struggling. Realistically, we only had to walk around three hours to get to Throng Phedi, and I thought we would have been fit by now, but people were going past us like we were not moving. All along the path, there were landslides, and eventually, we had to go down and cross a river. The path was brown stain icey. We moved slowly down, and over a bridge, and then the track went straight up. Lucy died. I made it up to the top, and sat with the Fathers and sons from Canberra. I thought I was going to spew. Lucy made it up, and we had a break. After about half an hour, we moved on. We followed a ridge along, and it was kind of shale and loose rocks everywhere. It was hard. Fucking hard. And then there it was. Throng Phedi. I grabbed a seat and ordered a lunch to share with Lucy. She came in 15 minutes later. Whilst sitting there eating, Dylan and Rein, the Aussie couple turned up. As we ate, we watched other people walking away up to high camp. Lunch settled, we set off. The track zig zagged both ways, all the time going up. It was steep. We would catch people, and then they would leave us. Porters were struggling as well. We were glad that there were other people suffering the same effects. The last K was straight up. Once there, we grabbed a room, and being the only place open, it was a fucking rip off, but had a great view of the Himalayas and waited for everyone else to arrive. The sun came down, we went in and found a seat. High Camp was packed with people. Around our table were the Aussies Dylan and Rein, Americans, Ryan and Megan, Canadians, AJ and Robin, Dutchie, Christian, Englishman Dougiw, Canadian, Julie, plus a host of others. It was good to meet so many people as we hoped that the camaraderie would help us over the top tomorrow. As the night drew to a close, Lucy told me that the toilets were disgusting. I walked out to take a piss behind our block where we were sleeping, and there was shit everywhere !!! Spoilt my plans for the morning !!!
