Day 4, Danaqu to Bhratang

As it was now really cold, we decided to have breakfast even earlier. We settled for 07:00 and was on the road half an hour later. After last night, where the fog had rolled in and we could not see a thing, it was a pleasant surprise to see how high the mountains were. We were also wearing our jackets, gloves and beanies for the first time. Pretty much, after leaving the village, we came to a Y junction. A high road and a low road. Trying to prove that I was not gay, we went the high road. As we climbed, donkeys were catching us, and there were also donkeys coming down the track. It was really narrow. We let them both pass, as we started to remove our clothes. Upwards we went, and then we arrived at Temang. The views were great. No wonder we were doing this trek !!! We were now up at 3300 metres. We knew we would be dropping back down slightly, but it was still good to get this high. We went down a long drop to another suspension bridge across a huge valley, looked straight up, as this is where the track was going to go, and realised that we needed a break. We sat and watched donkeys coming and going both ways, then when there was a break, we took off. It was a little hard as the track went straight up. The next village was Than Chowk. It was really nice, so we stopped for a snickers which we bought off of a woman with wonky eyes !!! The village was really nice, and after leaving, we started to go back down again. As we went down, amazingly, the locals were building a road. Fuck knows why, but it was pretty impressive !!! As the road was being built, we were climbing over rubble and going up/down, and then the road went down, all the way to Chame. We were stopped by the ACAP people and the Police, just to make sure we had our passes. Signed in, and found a place for lunch. It had been a hard morning and it was good to eat. As we were finishing up, the Italian guy and the Chinese girl came in. His name was Marco and he lived in Genova. He sounded alright, and we thought we could pump his porter for some info, so we decided to leave and meet them at Bhratang that night. It was only two hours away, but sometimes, two hours can be a long way away, especially, when there has been landslides, and we had to climb up to get around them. Back in the 60's, Bhratang had been a place where Tibetan refugees had lived. We were expecting a bustling village, but there was only two hotels, and one of them was closed !!! So we took a room at the Raju. It was a shithole, but not much you can do. Marco arrived, we had a quick chat, but as it was colder than last night, we were in bed by 20:00
