Venice, a rerun

So, now we are on the road again. Exciting isn't it !!!!!
Sunday morning was a rush. We repacked over and over again, eventually, chucking everything out of the flat and drove to Simon's place, as he was taking the Golf off of our hands for £200 big ones !!!!! All went to plan, I took my Koala off of the rear vision mirror and sadly watched my Golf go in a new direction. Oh the memories, especially the ones around the Nurburgring !!!!!
Landed, grabbed a train, found the hotel and walked Padova. Churches were everywhere, and it was hot. 35 degrees is what the temperature gauge was stating as we left the train station. At first, we thought it was pretty shit, but this was the new part of the town. We made our way into the old section and walked the streets. It was nice, but it was similar to a lot of other towns that we have been to in Europe. We found parts of the old walls and walked on to the top of the gates where possible, well, the only one that we could. Saw the fountains and then went into the churches. For a small town, it had some huge churches. They were good, and it got us out of the heat as they were nice and cool inside, but then there was the tacky part. You could buy candles of all sizes outside. Now it could be quite normal, but these things were over 2 metres in height !!!!!
Next day, we went over to Venice. My last memories of Venice was trying to get into St Mark's Cathedral and not being let in so I told the guy on the door in Italian that he was a fucking clown. A little harsh, but fair at the time, so I thought I would go with the old forgive and forget routine and give it another go.
It was good walking along the canals, finding the Rialto bridge and pushing and shoving through the hordes of tourists. Normally I wouldn't do this, but it is American season so it seems, so to me, it was fair !!!!! We followed the signs until we came to St Mark's and this time it was different. Last time we were here, it was August, in the height of the school holidays, but this time, there were even more people, and there was a line. So we lined up !!! I was wearing a singlet, which is not allowed, but, I had the t-shirt ready for the cover up. So I had a quick change as we went through the door, only to be told once again, I was not allowed in !!!! This time, it was for having a bag, but the nice man on the door said I had to put it in a locker, and then I could come in. So I did. And it was worth the wait, but there are no photos to show as you are not allowed to take photos, so being overawed with the experience, I followed the law of the land and took none. We came out, better for the experience and followed more canals. My estimation of this city has now gone up.
And that was about all. We have drunk half a litre of white wine with dinner one night, and the temperature has not gone under 32. I am slightly sunburnt and looking like a tourist.
So, until next time !!!!!
