A day in the life

Generally, I have found when travelling around and meeting people, they tend not to know or see certain things in their own city. I am guilty of that. I could never count the amount of people that have told me things about Sydney. I find it a fascinating experience. But I feel I have another problem. As I have not lived fulltime in Australia since 1996, and with my parents coming from London, I have for a long time considered London to be my home away from home. Hence the story you are now reading !!!!!

Back in the good ole days of the last century, we used to ride our pushies on both sides of the Thames along the tow paths. Closer to Westminster bridge, there was a hive of activity going on, on the water front. The builders there were building something that was white. Eventually, a crane came over from the Netherlands and started to raise it out of the water. As it started to rise, it began to take shape. It looked like a giant bicycle wheel !!!!! As the end of 1999 grew closer, pods were being attached to this wheel. A couple of Spaniards climbed up to the top to protest that another Spaniard was in jail in Spain and should be let out. You had to question the mentality of the Spanish. Were we in Spain, I think not, so the Spaniard remained in jail !!!!! Eventually, the end of the year neared, we flew to Viet Nam, and the bicycle wheel became the London Eye, the worlds biggest ferris wheel

Well, there are now three weeks to go till we leave London, so it was getting time to play tourist in my second home. Hitting the internet, I booked two tickets to go on the Eye. A mate at work, told me I was wasting my money as I had been up BT Tower, but being a tourist you need to do these things. We arrived early, and there was not much of a crowd. Once we had picked up our tickets, we were placed in a pod very quickly. There was only 12 in there, so we had room to walk around. Now admittingly, ...
