Neighbours, Everybody needs good neighbours
Isn't is exciting when you go to a city where a TV show is filmed, and here we are, in Edinburgh, home of Neighbours !!!!!!!
Its funny coming up here, so different to where we live in London. The pace is much slower and generally, the people are far nicer, but we didn't come here for a haircut, we were here as Scotland was playing Australia in the rugby, so what better occasion to come up, hit the beers and do some sightseeing, plus I was finally finishing off of my set of 5 nations home grounds.
Saturday, we arrived and walked the city. Did one half of the Royal Mile, the down hill bit and ended up at Holyrood Palace. We did consider going in, but it was very expensive, so we settled on finding a pub and having a few beers before the game. Time went quickly, and before you knew it, you were traipsing with the rest of the crowd towards the holy shrine that is Murrayfield. I was so excited, I had seen it in the past, but to go in, I was having orgasms !!!!! The national anthems were sung, fireworks went off, then it was time for the kick off. As there was no wind, things didn't go quite to plan. The smoke stayed low, so we couldn't see for the first 10 minutes. After it cleared Australia strode ahead, and at half time, they had a comfortable lead. The second half, was a different story, Australia played crap, but they still won the game. If they play like that in Paris, we will get our asses kicked
So now my European set was complete, we hit the beers and being the good Aussies that we are, we ended up in an Aussie bar, where things turned messy, but the highlight for me was Radeke Samo, the Aussie backrower, turned up and hit the piss as well !!!!! We stumbled to the hotel, and drifted off into a coma.
Morning time, Australian bar, alcohol, don't usually mix well with each other, especially when there is a 10 am checkout time, so we found a greasy spoon, for a good old fashioned Scottish fry up. It didn't work, I walked out and threw up. Things were not looking up for me. I had to walk up hill to the castle. Lucy was taking no shit from me either. I personally think that she is a bit psychotic, in moments like these. She had an evil look in her eyes, plus the maniacal laugh was quite off putting !!! I did make it, maybe it was the air up in the castle, or most probably the fact that there was a Scotch factory practicly next door, I was refreshed and ready to hit Edinburgh castle. 3 hours later, we were castled out, so we walked a bit more, seeing the last of the city. It was loads of fun, I still can't get over how nice everyone was.
That's when good neighbours become good friends.
