Meknes
We caught the train to Meknes. We had a walk around the souq, and then it happened. I tried to say I wouldn't but they kept plying me with there tea, I tried to resist. Then those words came out of my mouth
I am now the proud owner of not one, but 2 Moroccan carpets !!!!! Well, at least they kind of match my Turkish ones !!!!!
We took a bus and went to see the old Roman ruins of Volubilis. These were really interesting. As we had seen quite a few ruins over the years, it was refreshing to see these. The mosaics on the floor were impressive, but you couldn't help but think that if this had been a Western country, they would have been covered instead of being sunbleached. Also, there were a couple of bodies that were buried into the walls and they were pointing towards Mecca. All that was left of them were their skeletons. They had enclosed these with glass to make them last. Did bodies mean more to them than the ruins ???
Fez
We tried to enjoy Fez. Honest. We tried to walk around the Medina, but fake guides would not leave us alone and when one spat at Lucy, we decided there and then to leave the next day for Marrakech. In all of the places that we have been, this was the MOST unfriendly place we have ever been to..
