Finally, after being cooped up in London, doing nothing, because realistically, we have no money, we are going to the Oktoberfest. Number four. This year, after three years of being in the campground, we booked a hotel through a company called PP Travel and flew over. The plane was good. Lufthansa. Would you like a beer with your breakfast !!!!! By the time the plane landed, at 9 in the morning, we were half cut !!!!! Friday, we hooked up with a Kiwi girl we were meeting there, Debs, and we hit the town for beers. Now, Munich at this time of the year, you run into people you never expect to. Whilst Lucy was walking down the road, a Kiwi girl grabbed her and started saying I know you, Lucy was saying the same. Neither could remember each other’s name I was in a cake shop at the time, and then the Kiwi said, your boyfriend is David, and I am Amanda. Lucy screamed. It was Huggy. The girl who left all her travellers cheques in the hotel in Egypt. 18 months is a long time between drinks. I walked down the road and screamed as well. Here was the girl that I said I would marry !!!!! Obviously, we arranged to meet for beers. We hit the beers in the Viktualienmarkt. Lowenbrau. With the wursts, they were good. We followed this up with a trip to the Hofbrau house, which was pretty horrid and then onto the Augustiner beer hall. Which was its usual excellent self. Saturday came, we set up base outside the Hofbrau with Debs and waited for the beers to arrive. Huggy came and joined us and told us about her China and South East Asia trip. It sounded excellent. Beers and chickens were flowing. I had to go to the toilet and it took 25 minutes to get there and back. In that time, I saw 6 sets of breasts, 3 dicks and an arse !!!!! Moving onto the Paulaner tent, we ran into an Aussie couple, Andrew and Bobbie. I had been working with Andrew in London, so we had some Paulaners. I was feeling hungry, so I bought a pork knuckle and sat on the grass slope to eat it. I then lay back and had a sleep. When I came back 3 hours later, I bought a stein and Andrew said that Lucy was going crazy as she did not know where I was. She arrived back and started screaming at me !!!!! I did try to explain that beers and food equals sleep !!!!! Eventually she settled down and we then moved onto the Fischer Vroni tent. This had been our favourite for a few years now, so we settled down for some more Augustiners. Night came and went, and as the following day was glorious, we hit the rides. They were fun as usual. We tried a few more tents. The reason being is that Debs wanted to snog the full set of Europeans. (That’s a joke Debs). She did meet some nice guys though !!!!! It was a good Oktoberfest. Sleeping in a hotel was much nicer and the breakfast, German style, before hitting the beers, was awesome as to be expected. And as we were flying, we still had time to have a few more steins before the plane ride home. Fly hotel, the only way to go.
