We arrived at Pompeii, excited that here was another wonder that we were seeing. It was all there, the brothel with the paintings on the walls for the service that they gave, pity about the beds though, they were as hard as concrete. Could never understand the concept of the small statue with the small penis or the small one with two penises !!!!! Seeing the people encased in lava was unbelievable, for all the pictures that you could see, was nothing like seeing them in real life. Out the back was an amphitheatre. The oldest in the world. I much preferred this to Rome’s. Finally, there was a villa out the back with some amazing frescoes on the walls. One day was not enough, but time was the essence and there was loads to see. It’s a pity we didn’t have more time because we would have like to gone to the museum in Naples as this is where the majority of the good stuff is now stored...
