On a fine day, they say you can see Tangiers from Spain, down near Gibraltar way. It was fine, so we waved hello. As we got closer, the rock loomed. We started to see the signs for Gibraltar, so we drove, and then there it was. As we were lined up to enter Gibraltar, a couple of Spaniards said that we had to buy tickets to enter Gibraltar !!!!! So I said get out the way or I would run you down. They tried again, so I drove at them, and next minute, we were in Gibraltar. We left Spain, showed our passports to the customs people, asked for a stamp and received a smiley face with a Welcome to Gib. Our second stamp. We then drove across the runway !!!!! There is not much there to Gibraltar. There is the rock. We slept beside it. We climbed the rock and saw the monkeys. Legend has it that if the monkeys leave the rock, Spain will return to power. The Spaniards were feeding them dry spaghetti, I think the Spaniards will be coming back soon !!!!! As Gibraltar is a duty free country, we bought an underwater camera and some lenses. We also bought a load of alcohol, but the best thing is, that they take British money and we got rid of all of our coppers !!!!! So we stayed another night and got drunk. How unusual. Beer for me and sangria for the girls. By this stage, Don Simon was gone and Pedro Martinez was their new love for them. Leaving Gibraltar is different, there is a line and if you have Spanish plates on your car, you get searched, they waved us through.
