Goodbye Turkey

We arrived in Kusadasi, well the customs actually and as we already had visas for Turkey we were sorted, but there was this American couple who you could tell were going to be in trouble. They were going to Turkey for the day and when told they had to pay $45 US each, they said that they didn’t as they were American and there travel agents said that they didn’t have to so there was no way they were going to pay so they had to be let in. We did try and explain, but they were American and I think if we had beat them in the head, they still would not have got it. We had decided we would stay in Selcuk at the Australian and New Zealand Pension. As we walked out, a guy grabbed us and said he could take us to a guest house, I said we had one, he asked which and I said the Australian and New Zealand Pension and he said that he worked there and he would drive us there. So for the whole sum of £4 each, we got breakfast, dinner a very clean room with its own amenities. What a bargain. We hung out and went back to the beach where the flaming chair resided and then made the mistake of walking in to a carpet store, to look, not buy. We looked and he asked us what colours we liked, and then he showed us some camel bags, and we put four aside. Well, we bought two Turkish carpets and two saddle bags. In return, as it happens, the owner was born in Australia, he decided to drive us back to the airport. And sadly, we left Turkey and ended up in London, where the Chookmobile was awaiting us.
