The next day I went for a walk through the streets and look at all the shops and the donkeys making their way through the steep winding hills as they made their way up the stairs... Sarah thought that there was an overwhelming smell of pepper, turned out to be donkey pepper!! Awesome view, awful smell!!

Next day woke up and it was cloudy, after Arty told me that it’s NEVER cloudy in Santorini!! What’s going on there?!?!?! Had brekkie (with cake at the end!! Love holidays!!) and then to Maria to have the obligatory frappe who is just adorable and works so hard for 8 months of the year, 7 days a week!!

for a walk and bought Mati (evil eye) for each other to keep the evil away. You don’t buy them for yourself as its bad luck.

We left and went back to Athens, I was feeling sooo very sick…. Nikki came and picked us up from the airport, thanks Nikki!!!! I was dying of the flu for the whole week, always happens to me when I’m on holidays!! I met Felix & Anne, Arty’s cousins and they were just lovely!! They bought Art guacamole cause she couldn’t bring wine with the airport crackdown for liquids… guacamole isn’t readily available in Greece!!

On the Wednesday it was time to go… leaving today… NOooooooo!!! Had a frappe making lesson hosted by Arty… we were all dying and it was ‘The Day of the Cross’ so it was a Chemist holidays - no one else was on the holiday though!! Just our luck! And codeine is banned in Greece so cold and flu tablets were few and far between!!!

We went and got some cheese pies to eat since we were all starving! and sat around having our final frappe’s… I have to say I was feeling a little down, but was trying not to behave that way, I’d waited so long to catch up with Arty and couldn’t believe that it had come to a close soooo soon… just didn’t seem fair and I didn’t want to go.. but all good things must come to an end and that was that.

Arty drove me to the airport (Thanks hon!) and the crew said goodbye as I walked away… it’s not goodbye though, just see ya for a little while! I know I’ll be back!!! And Arty’s promised me that we’ll try to co-ordinate future overseas trips together in years to come!!

I was feeling a little lost in the airport, wondering around trying to occupy my time before check-in. Once it was time to go I went through x-ray forgetting that in the bid to lighten my bag I put a bunch of stuff in my carry on and forgot about my scissors which have now been culled!! There’s no food or drinks or anything when you are at your gate at the airport!! Very bizzare!

Have to say on my leaving day talk about windy!! You forget about how you look (even though I don’t bother much at home!) and felt like I was starting to look like a real traveller - bra straps showing, leather strap around my wrist (evil eye) and a tan (yay!!) with crinkled pants and thongs - very attractive look!!

I sat in the airport looking over my photos of the last week, smiling at the fun times and thankful for the friends I have and the ones I made… It was nice to have a group to travel with, and all the personalities just seemed to work. Wish I could have stayed longer, but it was time to leave and am looking forward to the next leg of the adventure!!

At the end of the day it wasn’t about whether the island was dirty and dusty, it was about time spent with friends, old and new, wine and sunshine… thanks guys!! You’re all awesome!! Especially my room mate Arty!! Love ya!!

I learn some essential items from my Greek friends, my language skills could use some work but hey, I managed to form a whole sentence by the end of the trip and it went something like this… Se thelo, skisou, lapon, gamo, efharisto - probably not that appropriate, but could have been useful!! Oh well, tried your best!!! Hehe!!

Guys, I’m looking forward to my beatings!!!

Anyways, I’m off now, don’t want to miss my bus to Naxos…
