When returning from vacation I often have feelings of exhaustion and the need for a “vacation” from my “vacation”…some rest and relaxation to ease me back into general daily functioning. Every so often, however, there comes a “vacation” that doesn’t fit this mold but instead offers refreshment, peace, joy and satisfaction.
A week in the rugged wilderness and beauty of God in Southfork, Colorado provided that renewed spirit.
But why? Why did this particular adventure offer that? What brings about those feelings? Did I take a cognitive nap? Did I run away from reality? Or did I manage stress differently?
(Sigh).
More on all of that later.
A few months ago, Tiff extended the invitation for me to join herself, her parents, aunt and uncle on a road trip to visit a family of some friends. Of course I said “yes”. I never pass up an opportunity to explore Colorado. However, I didn’t realize that the cabin we stayed in would be so hospitable and located precisely in the middle of God’s wild beauty.
I’ve only just returned from my adventure so I am still a bit shy for words to describe my experience. I

am certain, though, that when I do reflect upon my time in Colorado and the questions pondered above, I will have more words in which I will include on my blog.

Introduction of characters:
Tiff or Tiffany-I met through a mentoring program at church. Tiff is
the "mentor" I was matched with to commit to meeting with for six
months. Ten months later, we are still meeting weekly for book
discussions and prayer. Moreover, we are discovering ourselves
and one another in this adventure of life.
