The last few days. Singapore. 2 degrees north. Hot and humid. Clean and tidy. It actually has some very nice districts in the city. Little India, Chinatown and Arab Street. They are interesting but I can't think of much else to say. Go have a look. We saw some monkeys with big red arses. That was good. One was playing basket ball, the other couldn't be bothered so just watched. We've all been there.

The MRT (metro/underground) is very nice. Very clean. I'm starting to sound like a grandmother talking about a prospective partner for a grandaughter. "He's a very clean young man!!".

We did have a rather bizarre coincidence whilst vsiting a museum on an island called Sentosa (which purports to be the most southerly point in continental Asia by the way). There is a fort which was a British fortification from the late 1800s right up to when the Japanese came along in WWII. The Japanese stuffed the Brits by sneaking up through the jungle rather than walking slowly towards the massive gun implacements that look out to sea! Sneaky eh?

In the museum there is a plaque/sign which tells the storey of a British soldier that escaped Singapore before it fell, moved on to Java to continue fighting, then escaped again to Sri Lanka (nearly getting torpedoed) and on to fight in Europe after that. Quite an epic. After all that excitement he then moved to Nottingham and lives at the end of Tom's parents' drive. Its a small world isn't it?...

.... and let me tell you it is. We have just been around it and its beautiful. Its small, and people are pretty similar everywhere you go once you look under the surface. We all have moments of laughter and of joy, of sadness and of pain, of hope and faith. If only we could see beyond the superficial and love one another, live side by side in peace. Sing a happy song, whistle whistly tune...or play some form of percussion instrument if we aren't blessed musically....

...."We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones to make a brighter day so let's start giving. La la la... In this world we are making, we can make it if we try, come and spend the night at my house...... la la la.." Come on everybody hold hands!

I've got tears in my eyes,.. have you?

What an ending!
