Secondly, to those who may be jealous of me spending Xmas in New Zealand's summer, don't be; up to Tuesday we've been getting freak cold weather here, which is just typical isn't it?! Nevertheless, travelling around NZ's north island is starting to get really fun and interesting now. You'll be glad...maybe...to know that I survived the 12000ft skydive. Who'd have thought being strapped to another man would give me such a big adrenaline rush. But I think the jumping (eventually) out of the plane and freefalling park helped. The feeling of freefalling is like no other - full exhileration to the end with a perfect awe-inspiring view over Lake Taupo and the distant mountains of Tongariro. It defies all your body's inbuilt common sense and self-preservation barriers. I kept saying to myself - I'm going to jump out, it's perfectly fine and normal, and I choose to do it. But your brain is at the same moment saying "haha! I think not!!" and starts producing lots and lots of drugs!
So by the time I jumped, I was on a natural high to the end. As soon as we jumped out, we flipped backwards and saw the plane above us rocket skywards. It really is the most amazing rush! Would I do it again? You bet.
I'm also now officially a proud 'Zorbonaut'. Yes, I used to wander what this was too. Quite simply, a friend and I became hamsters inside a giant plastic ball full of hot water and rolled down a 150m-long hill, which has the ability to cause spontaneous laughter. One wanders who comes up with these death-defying ideas. New Zealand is full of them. Someone suggested maybe due to the lack of deadly animals, insexts and weather phenomena, New Zealanders need to find other ways to try and kill themselves - hence
