Took the bus up here to 'Town of 1770' on Wed night at 7.
It was a 5 hour journey which stopped at Mirriam Vale, a little town just outside of 1770. Unfortunately my coach company - Premier - didn't go direct, (it turns out they once did, but the Cool Bananas hostel owner in 1770 pissed a driver off so much that Premier decided it would no longer deliver backpackers right to the doorstep, in the hope of loosing them business- oooo stroppy!), so I had to pay $10 for a connecting pickup and at 1 in the morning I found myself being ratteled around in the back of a 4X4 along with 6 other sleepy travellers.....It's weird how you just find yourself in the oddest situations some times.

Turns out the hostel isn't even in 1770 but in a place called Agnes Waters!, which is really annoying since the main reason I came here was because I wanted to check out a town with such a weird name. Incidentally, it's named 'Town of 1770' because this was the place where Captain Cook first stepped foot onto Australia in May of that year. Still, 1770 does exist, and it's just 5kms away, but since there's nothing much there most people stop in Agnes Waters and pretend. Furry Muff, it's a nice enough place; sleepy, really unspoilt and lots to do if you've got the cash, but I haven't and after a while the beach has limited appeal. Having said that, I couldn't resist the $50 for 30min stunt flight in a near-miniature 2-seater plane over the beach! I go at 14:30! Can't wait!
