The sun is brilliant outside, I´m waiting for Lisa to call so we can decide where to meet. Today we´re going to el museo nacional with Jorge, her boyfriend, who has to go there for his school work. He´s studying to become an arquitect, same as Adrián at whose place I´m staying. His family has a very nice house with a beautiful outside patio and they are gracious enough to let me stay in their spare room. I´ve already been here for almost a week and I´m enjoying the sun and la pura vida - pure life. Everything is tranquilo and you never have to be in a hurry - fits me perfectly!

Lisa will be going home in three weeks so we´re going to be making short trips here and there in the country before she leaves. On Thursday we´re going rafting in a river close by - something I´ve always wanted to do!

This weekend we spent i Puerto Viejo which is located on the Carribean coast, down south pretty close to the border of Panama. It´s a laid back beach town with a lot of influence from the rasta culture. A lot of sufers come there it´s a hard lifefor Salsa Brava - one of the biggest breaks in the country. We stayed in a hostel, Rocking J´s, where we slept two nights in hammocks. Or slept mor or less anyway. The first night it was really cold, it had been raining almost the entire evenning and everything was more or less damp. For a while I felt the night was going to be SO long and that the raining would never ever stop. But when i woke in the morning, the sky was blue as ever.

We rented bikes for our stay and went down to Manzanillo, 13 km from Puerto Viejo. There we parked our bikes where the road ended and walked into the forest. Before long we found a beautiful beach guarded from the big waves by a reef that we had practically to ourselves. One of those moments when you fell that life is being all too harsh on you...

We had a couple of really nice days in Puerto Viejo - enjoying the Carribean vibe and all the local specialities - but whe we got on the (some what cramped) bus back to SJ we felt that we´d had enough. Some places just hold you there but I didn´t get that feeling in Puerto Viejo. Also I felt that my poor winter skin had had enough sun for a couple of days.

After Lisa leaves I plan to go to Nicaragua, to Granada which is a colonial town. Also I want to go hiking and canopying in Monteverde and go to Bocas del Toro and probably some other place in Panama. There seem to be countless possibilities but then again I have a lot of time on my hands.

Pura vida!
