I´m still in San José as I´ve been for a week now since we got back from Puerto Viejo. Not much is happening, I´m hanging around not doing anything in particular with Lisa most of the time. Today we strolled around in central SJ, took a cup of coffee in the Café Teatro Nacional, went to el mercado central and bought some nice earrings and other stuff I don´t really need for no money at all. We sat in La Sabana, a big nice park, for a while and had our lunch of fruit salad and a croissant under the sun. All without having any idea of what the time was. Tuanis...

Hola amigos!

Tuanis...

Last week we went rafting in el rio Pacuare - so much fun, it was my first time going. It was a big rush going in the violent rapids without feeling any sense of control, but Kevin, our instructor, luckily had enough control for all of us. He impressively manouvered our little boat between rocks and walls and other boats. Also the scenery was absolutely fantastic, breath taking. Lush, green rain forest, majestic trees that seem to have been there forever. Shores of rocks that look smooth enough to sleep on. An enourmous variety of birds and waterfalls and sounds. The forest was still ringing in my ears as I went to bed. So was Kevin´s voice: "Adelante, adelante!" and "Alto..." And definitely the movement of the boat in the rapids - as I went to sleep it felt like I was back on the ocean, getting rocked into dreams...

Also I went on a coffee tour to the plantation of café Britt, possibly the most famous brand of coffee in CR. It was all a bit adapted to the gringos, for a while it felt like I was on some tour in the States... But it was quite fun seeing how they used the same jokes in both Spanish and English, but adapted them differently. As they were talking about sorting out the bad beans, they said in Spanish that that was the beans they sent to Colombia and in English they said that that was the beans they sent to New York - with and eruption of laughter from the Americans following... But it was still a good tour, interesting, and I got a chance to speak a lot of Spanish to
growing in the shade of palmtreesour bus driver. I feel that my Spanish is coming easier and easier every day.

Other than that I´ve just been trying to take each day as it comes, not doing anything I don´t want to. But I am getting a bit restless here in SJ, it´s really not such a nice city. It´s great though to know people here that know where to go - I have my own personal guides! This week we´re probably going to a beach for a day or two, Jacó, because it´s close to SJ and Lisa´s Jorge has a friend who has a house there. Free accomdation = pura vida! If that doesn´t work out we´ll be going to Arenal - a volcano a couple of hours away.

Well, I guess that´s all for now, ciudense todos - nos hablamos!
