... I had intended a stay here of several weeks.. and now, only a week or so after my arrival in Oz, I am ready to leave, gladly packing my bags for departure tomorrow... So, the story goes...

Backpackers. Aw, thanks Colm!
..23:55.. sitting in a coffee shop sipping hot mocha at midnight..THIS is what I love about cities - they never sleep, and neither do I! That said, I still have no real feel for Sydney, a great city with much to offer but it just... I dunno.. lacks the soul that breathes life into other cities of similar status. I think anyway. So... onto Singapore it is..
Bondi Beach was... nothing more than a tick on the tourist checklist. Unimpressed and self pitiful with a pounding ankle, I could at least say that I'd been there.
...What with my ankle injury, I knew that if I didn't rest as the doctor ordered, I'd live to regret. So, I set myself a challenge for Thursday: Rest. I did. Sort of. Well, besides emailing, blogging, shopping, tidying and laundry, I did. Hm, this was one challenge I was struggling to live up to. Colm finished work and we headed to the cinema - at least there I'd have to sit still! Much to our delight, Memoires of a Geisha was still screening...
...Paddy Markets on Saturday. Sydney in many ways reminds me of London, and this was no exception - bringing in memories of Spitalfields, Camden and Borough Markets back home. Yum. As usual the abundance of fresh fruit n veg had me watering at the mouth, but fortunately my bad ankle stopped me from purchasing more than I could possibly eat, let alone store... Our walk ended in Darling Harbour, where we sat by the waterside in the sun until hunger kicked in and we headed back to Base. After lunch, we took books down to Hyde Park, yet no sooner had we parked ourselves on the grass, than it began to rain. Coffee time...
...Ordered to rest, I stayed at the hostel whilst Colm went clothes shopping and returned in the afternoon, ready to head to Manly. Ferried across and arrived at 5pm - a bizarre time to start a 'day at the beach' but uncrowded and cool, it was a pleasant evening...Having already
