It's rained a good portion of the day today!!! =) It's quite a bit cooler today, which is sooooooo nice. Last night I went to bed early (around 10), but woke up somewhere around 12 cause the power went out (the 3rd time in the past week). I know, when you're asleep a power outage shouldn't make any difference, but it does here in respects to the celing fans. I woke up 'cause I was roasting in the room. It was soooooo hot. I laid there and contemplated going an standing in the dark shower just cause I knew the water would be cool.... it was soooo uncomfortable. Even in the middle of the night it was warm enough to make me sweat buckets. YUCK!!! It took around an hour n' a half before the power came back on. I've never been so happy about power before in my life. It felt so nice to have the breeze from the fan and was finally able to fall back asleep.
It rained!!!

When I woke up this morning it was raining outside!!! This morning was just kind of a drizzle, but while we sat in class it really started raining. =) The temperature is sooooo nice now. It's beautiful outside.
Ok, enough on the weather... although I do love the rain.... classes are going well. It's all sooo interesting (except for the lecture on the Orma people in which all of us wanted to shoot ourselves after the first 30 min.!). Today we talked about development in Kenya from colonial time to now. It's really sad the way Kenya (and other African countries) were exploited. And it's sad to see that once they gained independence the government took over most of those institutions and policies and have continued to exploit its own people. The general opinion on the coast (from what I've gathered) is that the people feel the Kikuyuus should no longer be in power and that all the politicians that learned under the colonial system should leave positions of higher power and let younger politicians run the country. Those that learned under the colonial system learned how to govern a people by exploiting them. It definetely wasn't one of a government to serve the general population.
I should get going now. Hope all is well. I miss you all! Keep enjoying the blogs... thanks all of you for your comments or messages... I love getting them.
Kwaherini!
