Puerto Maldonado to Rurrenabaque

Greetings!

We´re in Puerto Maldonado, Peru and are trying to get downriver to Bolivia with the eventual destination of Rurrenabaque, via Chive/Puerto Pardo/Puerto Heath. Locals are generally confused when we inquire (we´ve asked dock workers to tourist agencies, a navy captain and more), and my Spanish is pretty good. If possible, we`d like to avoid the northern frontier through Cobija and Riberalta. Ever heard of anyone doing this successfully? If so, how? Thanks,
