I only had two today, rather dissapointing I know. We re in the beautiful sea side town of Fethiye at the moment living on board a ship that we are cruising on tomorrow. We were looking to go down to Olympos via one of these Gullete type boats and we found these cool guys(that look like pirates) and they said we can live on board untill we leave. I cannot wait to go, it should be amazing.
Its a four day cruise and the only thing I will be able to do is nothing which is perfect. Adam and I have been running around quite a lot over the past two weeks. So much has happened since I last wrote. Went down to Gallipoli after Istanbul. Quite something, very sad. The tour leaders wife said 'if women were in charge their would never be any wars because no mother would ever send their child to war' Something like 500 000 young men died there at an average age of 23. And nothing was gained, no ground, no foot hold into Turkey, madness. We then went to Troy, pretty cool. Saw the 4500 year old city walls. Very hard to even phathom.
Then went to Ephesus, most amazing ancient greek ruins. Incredilbe what those guys were doing back in the day. Had mud baths in Koycegiz. very nice. Oh in the town before I had a haircut, wow cool experience. A gentleman by the name of Salim cut my hair. He certainly took great pride in his work, because I went in for a trim and walkied out of there an hour and ten minutes later! He first cut my hair, then washed my head and gave me a head massage(awesome). He then did that fire thing and burnt the soft hair off my ears and face. Then the obligatory nose hair trimming, then crazziest of all he took cotton wool and cleaned my fricken ears out, very cultural experience one might say. Then put gel in my hair and then poured aftershave all over my face so that I could also smell like one of those shady turkish guys walking around town. Awesome experience.
Went to an awesome beach nearby yesterday, met a RSA couple that live in London. Saw about a hundred pairs of breasts, I swear Adam and I must have looked like we were 12. We periodically went on 'booby walks' very mature I know, but hey.
Oh also went for a Turkish bath yesterday, got naked and got cleaned by some hairy turk with suprisingly strong hands, he also gave me a massage and washed my hair.
Today was cool, walked all over the show. Found this little Doner kebab place out of the touristy area(that is the secret to good cheap meals, walk 3 blocks away from tourist central, every town has a tourist spot) Met all the employees there. Very shocked that I was white and from Africa and not married and did not have a job. They gave me some free tea and we chatted it up for a long time, so interesting. Two boys who were only sixteen were both engaged, they showed me their rings and pictures of their respective fiances. People seem to get married much earlier here. Interesting talking to them about marriage and family.
