Czy polski nauczyciel może podjąc pracę w Wielkiej Brytanii?
GosiaJestem magistrem z wyższym wykształceniem pedagogicznym (chemia), licencjatem (nauka języka angielskiego) i mam dziesięcioletnie doświadczenie w pracy nauczyciela. Chciałabym się dowiedzieć czy mam szansę na podjęcie pracy jako nauczyciel w Wielkiej Brytanii i gdzie mam szukać informacji na ten temat.

Teachers from the EU (a wiec w tym i z Polski), EEA and Switzerland should contact the English General Teaching Council (GTC) in order to obtain form EC1. Once completed the GTC will assess your qualifications and if approved will award you Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for England. Once you have been awarded QTS and are registered with the GTC, you are free to apply for any teaching posts.

From 1 May 2004 , nationals of some of the new EU Accession member states working in the UK will be subject to the Worker Registration Scheme. Where they are subject to the scheme, they need to register within one month of starting work for an employer in the UK . The following nationals will need to register: Czech; Estonian; Hungarian; Latvian; Lithuanian; Polish; Slovakian; Slovenian.

This is the qualification that enables you to begin your career in teaching in maintained and special schools in England and Wales. To achieve QTS, you need to successfully complete an initial teacher training (ITT) course and meet the standards required of a skilled teacher. These standards include:
- demonstrating the values, attitudes and commitment expected of you as a teacher;
- showing confidence and authority in the subjects you teach;
- a clear understanding of how pupils should progress and what is expected of them; and
- showing skills in class management and planning, teaching, monitoring and assessment.
