The shield of Moabi is the palm tree and two parrots. They symbolise the richness of nature.
Moabi is also the name of the tree which grows in Gabon, Cameroon and Nigeria. If this species continues to be over-exploited it will most probably disappear from big areas of its distribution. The timber is used for furnishings, cabinet work, decorative flooring, turnery and carving, decorative veneers, woodwork, and stove fittings.
Gabon is the main Moabi exporter.
