A small town in the east. It is an administrative centre of Ogooué-Ivindo province. Makakou is situated on the Ivindo River. Ivindo National Park is the main attraction of the region.
It is also known for timber trade. Most of the trade is illegal. Thousands of trees are cut down and sold.
