Libreville
Kaśka GlancHis is Gabon?s capital city. It is located on the Gabon River, on the east coast. It is an important timber trade centre.
Long before the French the city was inhabited by the Mpongwé people. Later it served as a slave trade centre. In 1848 it was named Libreville which means Freetown in French.
There are a few interesting things to see: National Museum of Arts and Traditions, the church of St Michael, Nkembo, St Marie?s Cathedral, the Arboretum de Sibang.
