Gondar
Kaśka GlancA city in the north-western part of the country. It is one of the oldest settlements in Ethiopia. It was the capital city from 1635 to 1837. Gondar is situated 35 km from Lake Tana. The city used to be a part of the Abyssinian empire and was founded in 1634 by Fasilidas. Nowadays there are a lot unique archaeological remnants like castles (based on Spanish and Portuguese building traditions). The city used to have a large concentration of Falashas (Ethiopian Jews), but most of them have gone to Israel.
It is a brand-new hot spot for tourists.
