Gambela
Kaśka GlancThis is a very important town and the capital city of the Gambela Region. Most of the inhabitants are Annual and Nuer people and both these groups have their own markets. There is an airport, usually used for charter flights. The city is located at the Baro River which was very important in the colonial times - Ethiopian coffee was exported via this route, up to 1940.
Gambela was founded at the beginning of the 20th century. During the next years it was ruled by the Italian and the by the British. A lot of people come here to visit the Gambela National Park, which is the biggest attraction of this part of the country. The wildlife in park is quite impressive. You can see some hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, bushbucks, baboons, Abyssinian reedbucks, lions, elephants and many more.
