It is a small town located on the south-eastern shore of Lake Tana, which is the country?s biggest lake. It is only 30 km from the magnificent Tissisat Falls, where the Blue Nile creates smoking water effect. Around Lake Tana there are a lot of old beautiful monasteries and each of them is worth visiting.
You can see there for example a stunning collection of medieval icons or old frescoes. There is a very colourful market in the town, where you can buy some wooden sculptures.
