Massawa is a port At the Red Sea. It is located on two island and partly on the mainland. They are linked with causeways. It used to be a very important town for a long time. It used to belong to the Ethiopians, Egyptians, Ottoman Turks, Italian and British. Massawa is a very diverse city. A lot civilizations have created its look - especially the architecture. It is a It is a popular tourist base if you enjoy coral reefs. The trip to the Dahlak Archipelago takes no more than 10 minutes. There are fantastic beaches and a lot of diving opportunities.
There is an airport and a railway station, but some of the trans hale been cancelled. The main industry branch is exploring salt.
