Boma
Kaśka GlancA fishing port at the northern shore of the Congo River, located about 80 km from the Atlantic coast. It has a population of about 200 000.
History
From the 16th till the 18th century there was an important slave market. Nowadays coffee, cotton and wood are exported. Boma used to be a capital of the Congo Free State (1885-1908) and it was ruled by the Belgian king Leopold II. Since 1929 it was an administrative centre of Belgian colony in Congo.
