Bandundu



Bandundu is the main city of Bandundu Province. It is located about 400 km north-east from Kinshasa. The former name of the city was Banningville. It is a live trade centre.
The region is flat, forested, with some marshes and one lake only. It is called Mai-Ndombe. In the south the savannah starts.
People in Bandundu usually speak Bantu and most of them come from Teke, Lunda and Kwango tribes.
Three post-colonial political regions Kwilu, Kwango, and Mai-Ndombe create the Bandundu Province. .
