Korhogo is a town in the northern part of the country. It has a population of about 160 000. It is an administrative centre for a mountainous district where cotton, rice, peanuts, corn, and yams are grown and sheep and goats are kept. There are diamond mines in the area. Korhogo used to be a significant pre-colonial trade route to the Atlantic coast.
