Bafoussam is situated about 250 km northeast of Douala. This pleasant town is the most important centre of the Bamileke tribe. It has a population of about 100 000 people. It is a trade centre for coffee, tobacco, tea. It is also a good interchange.
The main attractions are the markets, which offer gorgeous Bamileke wooden sculptures and carvings. Bafoussam is a starting place for visiting Foumban and Bafut, where you can admire a castle.
