General
It is a city located in north-western Algeria. It has about 180,000 inhabitants. Its situation comprises beautiful Tlemcen mountains.(807 metres above the sea level). It is very close to the border of Morocco.
It is the capital of Tlemcen province.
Tlemcen is famous for olives and wine, carpets and leather textiles.
Tlemcen is connected with other towns by road and rail. There is an airport, too.

History
A town was founded in the 8th century. In 1236 The Berber dynasty chose Tlemcen as their capital, so it became an important settlement in the trans-Saharan trade. The Berber era ended in 1553. Two years later the Ottomans came and in 1830 ? the French. It became a part o Algeria in 1842.
