El Oued is the centre of a few of oases, and the biggest town and one of the most charming places that attracts attention of tourists. El Oued is located among huge golden sand dunes. El Oued is an exceptional base for visiting the desert in Algeria.

What to see and what to visit
There are no real tourist sights, but the market and Sidi Salem Mosque are well worth taking a look.
The architecture is one of the most captivating examples of Saharan architecture. El Oued is often called "The city of the 1000 domes". White houses are clustered around date palms. El Oued famous for being a good place to shop, because a lot of the goods sold here, are not available in other parts of Algeria. Carpets sold here are said to be the most beautiful in the world.
There is also a museum, where you can find out a little bit more about the region.
