Tema

A city on the Atlantic coast. It is located east of Accra. There is an artificial harbour, which was opened at the beginning of the 1960s. This even enabled the flourishing of the city which used to be a small and quiet fishing village.
Nowadays most of the country's most important export, cocoa, is shipped from Tema. Manufactures take in aluminium, steel, soap, processed fish, textiles, refined petroleum, chocolate and chemicals.
