The most popular island of the archipelagos. The capital city is located there and also the town of Ciudade Velha, which was the first Portuguese settlement. The island is very picturesque. There are mountains, canyons, so every hiker should be glad. A Portuguese stronghold called Fort Real de San Felipe is situated beautifully on a cliff. The stronghold is a great place to visit and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the whole country.
Sao Tiago offers also beautiful beaches with white sand, palms and waves perfect for surfing.
