Grand Popo is the best place to visit if you need a few days of relax during your journey. It is a small fishing port, but at the same time one of the most picturesque and frequently visited places in Benin.
The town is located neat the Togolese border. The most important business is fishing. Among the fishing villaege you can find fantastic beaches with 2 resorts that can be highly recommended. The first one called Auberge de Grand Popo and is based in a beautiful colonial building. Lonely Planets TV programme counted it among the best beach resorts in the world. The second one named Awale Plage is newer and is situated right on the beach. It offers some comfortable bungalows. The restaurant is excellent and the views stunning.
Resorts are gorgeous places to rest and relax. The best way to spend your time there is strolling along the beach and watching the fishermen in their colourful boats.
All the restaurants in Grand Popo serve delicious sea food.
