Garissa

A small town in the eastern part of the country. In November 2006 abnormal rainfall has hit Eastern Africa, especially eastern Kenya, including Garissa and Tana River districts. Heavy rains have caused the Tana River catchments to fill up rapidly sending huge amounts of waters down the River Tana as a result. The town was destroyed by the water. Many people drowned in the river and thousands were forced to flee their homes.
There is an airport.
The town is famous for Arawale National Reserve.
