Cape Coast

This is one of the most famous and most attractive towns in Ghana. This is the administrative centre of the Central Region. In the colonial times it was the centre of British Administration. For some time it also served as the capital city of Ghana. Unfortunately the history of Cape Coast is quite sad, because it used to be a flourishing centre of the slave trade. There is a big and extremely important museum of the slaves in the city nowadays.
Cape Coast is a very important cultural and educational centre of Ghana. There is a university, which a leading one in the country.
The city offers plenty attractions. You should not miss sights such as: Fort William, Fort Victoria, Cape Coast Centre for National Culture, Cape Coast Castle.
